Like you, Corsair Robotics 2612 likes to get involved the community. For a third year, our team is mentoring FIRST Lego League (FLL) elementary school students. The Corsairs share knowledge of robots to help students problem-solve and build an autonomous robot for its competition level. The Corsairs are excited for this mentoring experience.
Launched in January 2016, Corsair Robotics 2612's project Waterford READS STEM aims to complement the school district's goal to have third-graders reading at grade level by the end of the school year. The Corsairs, with support from Team 27 and Team 217, delivered three STEM books to each elementary school in the district. Third-graders earn their school points by reading books and articles, creating art projects, and even building a robot to help foster STEM curiosity that will stay with them for a lifetime.
We have also participated with local fundraising events in the community, including the Walk for Warmth, Walk to Cure Arthritis, and a holiday light show to benefit the Michigan Humane Society.
In addition, each year we participate in holiday parades, volunteer and judge at Square One Underwater Robotics competitions, and showcase our robots throughout other community events to help spread STEM excitement.
